Allgau Gautrachtenfest Germany 2018
This June, Lancaster Liederkranz members of the Alpenrose Schuhplattlers traveled to the 2018
Gautrachtenfest in Germany. The Gautrachtenfest is a four-day event that was full of music, parades,
local tours, and fests. The Gauverband Nordamerika hosted the Bayerischer Löwe “Bavarian Lion” in
Haldenwang, Germany. It is described by participating groups as the “Plattler World Cup.” Lancaster
Liederkranz’s Autumn Zodet placed first in the Einzelpreisplatteln at the Gauverband Nordamerika
2017 Gaufeste, in Buffalo, NY, which allowed her to compete in this elite competition. Under the direction
of Paul and Barbi Stanavage, Autumn practiced diligently over the past year with her partner, Tanner Beck.
Her performance earned her 10
th
place among the best schuhplattlers in the world. Another highlight of
the event included an Ehrentänze, “Honor Dance” performed by Tanner Beck, Paul Stanavage, Autumn
Zodet, and Avery Zodet, representing the Alpenrose Schuhplatters and the Lancaster Liederkranz. The
group also participated in the Gauplattler, Fronleichman “Corpus Christi” procession, and marched with
the Gauverband Nordamerika in the Festumzug, a parade with over 3,000 participants.
